Yom Imah Sameach!

May 9, 2009

Sunday, 7:45 am local time

Mornings.

The bright sunlight and the chirping birds woke me up at 6:15 this morning, but I didn’t mind; I was well rested, and seeing the morning sun reflected off the sands of the Negev was an austere beauty most of us never get the chance to see.

I’m looking forward to today. After Emma leads us in worship this morning, we’ll be exploring the history of the Nabeaites, a proto-Arab tribe (whose name I’ve probably woefully misspelled) whose descendants include Herod the Great, if I’ve got my facts right.

A final thought, though it’s not an Israeli holiday – happy mother’s day to all our moms back home. We miss you, love you, and will see you soon.
